Blake Scanlen is a baritone, conductor, and educator from Tāmaki Makaurau. He performs with Voices NZ, Auckland Chamber Choir, and St Matthew’s Voices, where he is leader of the Voices. As a soloist, he has performed around NZ with ensembles such as Bach Musica, NZ Barok, and Wairua Sinfonietta in Oratorio repertoire including Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, J.S. Bach’s Mass in A, and Stainer’s Crucifixion. Blake is currently the Artistic Director of Neotectonic Vocal Ensemble and teaches Music and English at Westlake Boys High School. He studied composition, conducting, and classical performance voice at The University of Auckland’s School of Music and sang with the NZ Youth Choir from 2020-2025.
