Benjamin was born in Rotorua and raised on the North Shore of Auckland.

An old boy of Westlake Boys’ High School, he has sung with several choirs, including Voicemale and Choralation, and the New Zealand Secondary Student’s choir in 2009-2010. Ben is also a member of Voices New Zealand and has also sung with the Auckland Chamber Choir and Viva Voce. He currently conducts a training choir at his former school, Westlake Boys High School, and also occasionally dabbles in composition.

Outside of music, he is currently working towards a PhD in Computer Systems Engineering at the University of Auckland.
